I am a storyteller and I want to tell you a story…
Stories that make you think, stories that make you angry or quiver with fear, stories that will have you playing a Hans Zimmer instrumental score in your head whilst you're reading that epic finale scene. Well that’s my dream anyways.
I also write things that can make you hungry, accompanied with delectable photos that may make you want to #eatyourphone. Food is a passion of mine and to feed others is my happy mission in life.
Stories and food = Me in a chocolate covered nut shell.
Who am I?
I’m a British Pakistani Muslim, born and raised in Nottingham, England. Think the tales of Robin Hood, Sherwood Forest and The Major Oak. Being a creative at heart, I studied Media and graduated with a BA Hons in Media Practice and Screen writing, before landing my dream job within publishing in London.
I worked for the big publishing houses for over ten years, with a stint in children’s party product and as an independent bookseller.
I then moved half way across the world, to the tropical city-state country of Singapore where I write my children’s books.
I have a natural tendency to sway towards adventure, spooky, mystery and paranormal in my older fiction writing but diversity and telling stories that are inclusive is also very important to me, especially in my picture books.
Amongst my passion for writing, I am a colossal foodie and recipe developer. With my own blog @The.Scrumptious.Spoon, I’ve collaborated with many global food entrepreneurs and hope to one day release my own recipe cookbook.
Did you know…
I used to be in my high school’s Motorbike Club
I once was a Radio DJ, keeping drivers entertained over the airwaves every Friday after work.
My dream job as a child was to be an astronaut, like full on NASA, until I realised I would have to move abroad. #epicfail
I love to dress up so have organised many costume parties.
